Carol Leeming, says she is an ‘Afrofuturist, Space Cadet, a Star Trek Fan’ and lover of speculative and magic realist fiction’ As Carol reflects on her stunning performance, complete with futuristic image, of her Jupiter Butterfly collection of songs, and that of her new Band The Random Acts of Senseless Beauty, for the successful launch of 2Funky Festival in 2022. With the audience, prior to her grandstanding performance, not sure what to expect, from this iconic massively talented artist. Carol says, “I was so excited to bring my new songs, which offered more far intense story telling, with a melange of Folk, Soul, Blues Reggae, P-Funk and Nu Jazz influences, a line up of two awesome guitarists, for funky rhythms along with psychedelic flourishes. Both offering searing lyrical lines. In addition to solid bass and drums. This was a totally new line up for me -I and the audience loved it!!!’ It had been some time, since I had played a larger audience, in a much bigger venue, like at 2Funky Complex. In comparison to, the previously more intimate gig audience/venue at James Bistro, that had seen me perform my new songs for the very first time with the band. These were are two completely different experiences both wonderful but in different ways. I and the band now need to go in the studio to record my songs, put out and EP. We will then go and gig, sell the music, we will continue to blow peoples minds, great music always does that – we know now as we saw how the audiences responded.”
